Past Events
9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
Heartsaver CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches
adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking
in adults, children, and infants. This course teaches skills with the AHA's
research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows
instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the
students' learning of skills.
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Launched in October of 2015 by the White House, Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.
We offer a 1 hour training course to empower you to know what to do should you find yourself in a situation where a person needs first aid for bleed control. Bleed Control Kits are located in every UNG buildings AED cabinet. There is no fee to attend Stop the Bleed training.
12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course is a free seminar designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004. CRASE provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) considers ALERRT the national standard for active shooter events. CRASE is a lecture-based course geared towards civilians and coincides with ALERRT material. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues, and drills.
